What Makes TassaTag so Important?

There are between one and two million children, under the age of 18, enslaved in the sex trade around the world. It has been estimated that as many as five thousand children a year are trafficked into the US, and thousands of American children are trafficked across state borders. Many of these children around the world are exploited by travelers, of which approximately 25% are men from the US. Child sex tourism is growing. Some people feel they are actually helping the child, even though the money almost always goes to a pimp or brothel owner. They believe it is legal and culturally acceptable in some countries. They believe children are less likely to be infected by HIV/ISA. These are all myths. The ID card inside tag pocket has the number to call if you have any information about the sexual exploitation of a child in the U.S. or abroad.

The TassaTag project will raise funds for the purpose of combating child sex tourism.

• Train people in the Travel Industry to take an active role against sex tourism.
• Inform the public that sex with children is against the law everywhere and if caught the person will be prosecuted and extradited to their home country, if necessary.
• Mobilize Congress against child sex tourism.
